Next Generation BMI was created out of a growing need to reach the next generation of Christians. The heart of the Blackaby grandchildren is to use culture, apologetics, and art to reach youth and young adults where they are at. The statistics of youth leaving the church is alarming and we want to be a part of the change that needs to happen. Here are our authors:
Mike is the minister of single adults at First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Georgia since 2010. He is the oldest grandson of Henry and Marilynn Blackaby. He was married the summer of 2013 to his beautiful wife, Sarah. Mike graduated from Ambrose University in Calgary, Canada and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently working on his PhD in Worldview and Apologetics from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike is passionate about music, hockey, and anything to do with Star Wars! He and his brother Daniel have written, When Worlds Collide: Stepping up and Standing Out in an anti-God Culture out of a concern for the Christian youth who are giving up their faith after they leave high school. Mike and Daniel wrote a second non-fiction book with their uncle, Tom Blackaby, called 7 Steps to Knowing, Doing, and Experiencing the Will of God for Teens.
Daniel is a fourth generation author, the middle child of Richard Blackaby, and the grandson of Henry & Marilynn Blackaby. He was married to his lovely wife, Sarah, the summer of 2010. Daniel graduated from seminary at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 2013. He is passionate about music, classic literature, hockey and baseball (Go Sabres and Giants!). More importantly, he knows more useless Star Wars facts than any self-respecting man should. He wrote his first book, When Worlds Collide, with his older brother Mike. His imaginative fiction series, The Lost City Chronicles, currently has Legend of the Book Keeper and City of Gold out while book three will released in 2014. Mike and Daniel wrote a second non-fiction book with their uncle, Tom, called 7 Steps to Knowing, Doing, and Experiencing the Will of God for Teens. Daniel runs the blog Imagination’s Underground Railroad, where he explores his passion for the Creative Arts in the Christian realm with his younger sister, Carrie.
Carrie Blackaby is the daughter of Richard Blackaby and the oldest granddaughter of Henry Blackaby. She holds a BA in English from North Greenville University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded the Veda B. Sprouse award. She is currently working simultaneously on an MFA in Creative Writing from Converse College and an M.Div in Christian Apologetics from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is an avid reader of nerdy literature, loves to travel, and is hopelessly addicted to Downton Abbey. She runs the blog Imagination’s Underground Railroad with her brother Daniel and is co-author of the book Off Course: Rethinking Best Parenting Practices So Your Child Can Thrive with her father.
